The Reflections Program is a National PTA arts competition. A local competition is held among Liberty students starting in September and winning entries move on to compete at the next level. Entries may be in the areas of fine arts, composition, photography, poetry, drama, literature or dance. The 2011/12 theme is "Diversity is.....". Entries are due October 31st and may be turned in to the Front Office.

The PTSA stocks a variety of school supplies to be made available to students in need. Items include backpacks, paper, notebooks, pencils, pens, thumb drives and other basic school supplies. School supplies are located at the front office and controlled by Ms. Alexander. If there is a need for an item that is not in stock, please tell Ms. Alexander and she will contact the PTSA.

The PTSA has funds available to help students in need in pay for test fees for Advanced Placement courses. To request assistance with AP test fees, please talk to Michelle Munson, Dean of Students.

The LHS PTSA coordinates and advertises SAT and ACT test preparation classes and practice tests. We work to ensure that these classes are readily available to Liberty students for a reasonable cost.

The Senior Events committee is responsible for planning and fundraising for a safe, fun graduation celebration. The party traditionally starts in the evening of graduation day and runs until the wee hours of the morning. Tickets are available for purchase beginning in the fall of senior year and scholarship money is available to students who require a little help. Baccalaureate is an Annual Inspirational Celebration for all Seniors and their families. This event has evolved over the years, and currently is meant to bring our diverse community together and honor the graduating class by providing them with the opportunity for reflection and the sharing of joy and appreciation with each other, teachers, family and friends. The program includes music, prose and a motivational speaker. Traditionally, students wear their gowns to this event.

Each fall, the PTSA conducts a membership campaign to encourage families to join the PTSA. A portion of your dues pays for education advocacy at the state and national level. Cash donations from PTSA Members are the primary source of funds to support PTSA activities at Liberty. Donated funds support students in need, teacher grants for programs to enhance learning, parent education and student programs like the simulated car crash driver's education program. The VP's of Volunteers head up the Staff Appreciation Committee. This committee coordinates numerous gestures of appreciation to the Liberty staff, typically held at the beginning of the school year, before winter break and during Staff Appreciation Week in the spring. Volunteers always needed!

The Hospitality Committee is a group of volunteers who provide refreshments for Curriculum Night, student recognition events, 8th Grade Moving Up ceremony, Senior Awards night, Senior interviews and other student or family events as identified.

Escrip is a fundraiser that allows LHS PTSA to receive donations from companies where our families shop. The major eScrip vendor in our community is Safeway so please take a few moments to enroll your Safeway card in the program. You can also shop online at many major stores and earn money for Liberty programs and student services. It's an easy way to contribute to our students!

The VIS Representative works with the Issaquah Council and the Volunteers for Issaquah Schools to pass school district levies. This includes providing information to the PTSA, recruiting volunteers to help with campaigns, sending out informational materials, submitting articles to the newsletter and putting up reminder signs as votes approach. 2012 is a Levy Year so keep an eye out for important information to be provided by the VIS Representative.

Advocacy for kids and education is a major goal of the PTSA at all levels. The Legislative Representative organizes and disseminates information regarding local and statewide legislative issues that pertain to public education or child advocacy. To keep members informed on issues and to represent LHS PTSA, the Representative submits articles to the monthly PTSA newsletter, talks at monthly PTSAA meetings, participates in theLegistlative Assembly and Focus Day, and encourages membership to take action, such as contacting their elected officials, on issues supported by the PTSA.

The Awards Committee is reponsible for gathering nominations for the Golden Acorn and Outstanding Educator Awards and selecting the awardees. The committee orders awards, gathers personal information for presentations, writes newsletter articles on winners and presents awards at meetings and ceremonies.

This committee works to improve and maintain Liberty's campus, including landscaping, interior public spaces, building maintenance issues and general appearance. This work is done by volunteers - mainly students - at one to two events per year, typically in the Fall and Spring. (note: due to the extensive remodel project currently underway at Liberty, this committee is taking a break.)

Without volunteers, nothing happens. We have volunteer jobs of all shapes and sizes, including several that don't require you to attend any meetings if you don't want. Please look at the list of open jobs and committees when you register and see if you can find a volunteer job that fits your schedule. We appreciate your support!

The Nomination Committee is reponsible for recruiting members to take on the leadership roles of the PTSA. The Nominating Committee is elected in January, spends February identifying candidates and presents a slate to the general membership at a meeting in the spring. Well connected LHS parents are always needed to serve on this committee. Click below if you are willing to help.

The Budget committee is responsible for developing a draft budget to present to membership at the May or June General Membership meeting. They request budget information from active committees, compile this information, and prepare the draft budget for the upcoming year. The Audit Committee is responsible for completing the required annual financial review of the LHS PTSA accounting records. This review is typically conducted in July or August, after the close of the year-end books on June 30th. The committee reviews the financial reports against the receipts, bank statements and report the audit results to the general membership.

Enrichment Grants are the main method that the Liberty High PTSA uses to support the educational programs at Liberty High School. Staff must submit a simple grant application request to be considered for the grant. Grants are approved by a Board vote based on the overall budget approved by members. The PTSA's ability to fully provide grants at this level depends on donations through our "Cash for Kids" campaign in the fall($7,000 was approved for 2010 - 2011 school year).
